TRS neglected government schools, says K Laxman
Hyderabad: TS BJP president K. Laxman said on Friday that government schools were in a pathetic condition and the TRS government was not giving any importance to the education sector. He said the literacy rate had not increased even by one per cent under the TRS government.
Speaking after distributing notebooks in a government school in the city on Friday, Dr Laxman said the literacy rate had stayed at 66 per cent from 2014.
He said the government was encouraging private and corporate educational institutions and doing injustice to the poor who were stud-ying in state schools.
Dr Laxman said the government schools did not have the minimum facilities and teacher vacancies were not being filled. Private and corporate educational institutions had become like business centres and students were committing suicide due to pressure, he said.
BJP chief spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao should spend his own money for the proposed yagam later this month and not that of the government. He said the BJP was not against the yagam if he paid for it. He alleged that the yagam was being performed keeping in view the GHMC elections.
