Congress, BJP spar over prospects in Telangana

Reacting on this, Mr Prabhakar said, “BJP leaders are new beggars; a day will come to put a lock to BJP office”.

Hyderabad: BJP spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao and Congress working president Ponnam Prabhakar got into a war of words on Friday over their future prospects in TS.

Mr Rao said that Congress leaders like Mr Prabhakar were unnecessarily criticising the BJP. He said that the people of Karimnagar had shown the BJP’s stren-gth to Mr Prabhakar, a reference to his defeat at the hands of the party’s Bandi Sanjay in the Lok Sabha elections.

“Congress leaders have to put not a ‘to let’ board, they will put a ‘for sale; at Gandhi Bhavan,” the BJP leader said.

Reacting on this, Mr Prabhakar said, “BJP leaders are new beggars; a day will come to put a lock to BJP office”.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Mr Prabhakar asked the BJP what it had done for the state in the last five years.

He said that out of 119 Assembly seats in the state, the BJP has lost its deposit in 105. Out of 600 ZPTCs, the BJP did not win even six.

“Despite this it was claiming to be an alternative to the TRS,” he said.
