CM to officials: Let’s work, don’t take leave for next 3 months

Officials must ensure payment of compensation to the family of farmers who commit suicide without any delay after examining each case, said the CM.

Bengaluru: To accelerate the functioning of the government machinery, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has directed officials not to take leave for the next three months.

After chairing a review meeting with divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and chief executive officers of ZPs, the CM told media persons that he has instructed officials to oversee drought relief work without taking leave and also work on all Saturdays and Sundays for the next three months.

Officials must ensure payment of compensation to the family of farmers who commit suicide without any delay after examining each case, said the CM adding that they should also encourage fodder production. “I have suggested that they purchase fodder from farmers at a cost of Rs 4,000 per tonne,” Mr Yediyurappa said. The CM also said that necessary action has been taken to fill water at 10 barrages across the Krishna river from Almatti and Narayanapur dams to meet water scarcity. He directed officials to streamline rice supply under the Anna Bhagya scheme and prevent any irregularities and also take stern action against those who misuse funds released under the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

“I have directed officials to bring up project proposals pending with the Centre so that I can take them up with Union ministers during my visit to Delhi next week,” the CM added.
