MK Stalin consoles restaurant staff attacked by DMK men

CCTV footage of Sunday's attack went viral on social media.

Chennai: DMK working president M.K. Stalin, on Thursday, visited Salem RR Biriyani Restaurant, where his party men unleashed violence on employees on Sunday night and consoled them. Meanwhile, the police arrested seven persons for the attack.

The DMK leader, accompanied by senior party colleagues A. Raja, M. Subramanian, K.N. Nehru among others, visited the eatery in Virugambakkam and enquired about the incident. Stalin already reprimanded the incident involving his party men and said it was ‘strongly condemnable’. DMK working president M.K. Stalin also suspended K.L. Yuvaraj and Diwakar from the party on Wednesday after the incident came to light. “They had violated the party discipline and brought disrepute to it,” he said.

“I will not regret to take severe action against any of my party men who taint the name of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam,” Stalin said in Twitter.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangangalin Peramaippu general secretary Govindarajulu expressed gratification towards the DMK on behalf of its leader Vikramaraja and welcomed the suspension of Yuvaraj’s membership.

7 held for attacking restaurant staff
Meanwhile, the Virugambakkam police on Thursday said that they have arrested and remanded seven persons in connection with the attack on restaurant’s staff.
The arrested persons were identified as M. Kishore (25), J. ‘kutty’ Kishore (24), M. Sathish (23), S. Karthik (22), M.Suresh (19), V. Mani (22) and H. Ruthra Kumar (26).

While Ruthra Kumar was arrested on Wednesday, other six persons were arrested on Thursday. “However, the main accused K.L. Yuvaraj and Diwakar have escaped to a neighbouring state,” the police said. The incident that happened on Sunday went viral on Wednesday after the CCTV footage was circulated on social media.
