M Karunanidhi sits on chair, health condition has improved: Kerala CM
Chennai: In a dramatic development, doctors at the Kauvery Hospital where DMK chief M. Karunanidhi has been undergoing treatment for the last six days, made him rest on a chair for 30 minutes on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who visited Mr. Karunanidhi at the hospital, said his health is improving. Mr Pinarayi Vijayan who called on the DMK stalwart and enquired about his health on Thursday told reporters that he met Mr. Karunanidhi’s son and the party’s working president M K Stalin and daughter Kanimozhi, besides others family members and DMK leaders. “They all informed us (CPI-M delegation) that his condition is improving,” he said.
“Kalaignar (Karunanidhi) is a fighter by birth itself. In his life he fought in several fields,” Mr. Vijayan added and praised the 94-year-old leader’s willpower. The Chief Minister said he wished ‘Kalaignar’ a speedy recovery.
Mr. Karunanidhi was admitted to the hospital here after his blood pressure dropped on July 27, has been advised an extended hospital stay. As his condition remained stable, there was less crowding in front of the hospital on Thursday, compared to the last couple of days, where hundreds of DMK cadres thronged, eager to have an update on the health of their leader.
Apart from Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Governor Banwarilal Purohit, leaders of various political parties from India and abroad, and people from various walks of life, including form the Tamil film industry, visited the hospital and enquired about his health condition.
