Agri labourers, tenant farmers hope to see a Congress govt in TS

KHAMMAM: People who came from various parts of erstwhile Khammam district for the Telangana Garjana event here were so unhappy with the state government over various issues that they hinted at inching towards the Congress, whose winning prospects were bright in the next Assembly elections.

Kota Yadagiri, 40, of Raghavapuram village in Chinthakani mandal, a landless agricultural labourer, said he was barely managing with his daily income of Rs 600.

“I am disappointed with the state government’s policies, especially towards farmers. There is no scheme for our welfare and security,” said Yadagiri, who belongs to the Padmashali community.

Yadagiri said that there are many like him who are living in pathetic conditions in his village and those from the surrounding villages.

In some instances, agriculture labourers take agricultural land on lease and become tenant farmers. Even they feel let down by the state government.

It seems like many villagers who did not get benefits of the welfare schemes are looking towards the Congress though some of them are happy with the developmental activities like improved road connectivity to their villages.

Although people from the interior turned up at the Congress meeting’s venue in sizable numbers, not many came from urban areas and towns.
