HYDERABAD: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has finally concluded the exercise of finding the new Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president. Sources state that the party high command will announce the name in the next few days. Several leaders from the state are likely to make it to AICC committees.

As per a leader’s expectation, AICC president Sonia Gandhi will take the final decision soon. Former minister D Sridhar Babu, CLP Leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and working president A. Revanth Reddy, MLC T. Jeevan Reddy are in the race.

But several senior leaders are opposed to the move as he came from a different party. V .Hanumantha Rao, T. Jayaprakash ‘Jagga’ Reddy and others openely commented against Revanth Reddy’s candidature.

According to one AICC secretary, who represents the state, all aspirants are lobbying for their respective candidature with their Delhi contacts. He stated that the decision was postponed in January due to the Nagarjunasagar byelection, but the actual reason was that some unhappy senior leaders sought postponement of the announcement.

An aspirant for the TPCC chief post stated, “There is no final decision about the next PCC chief”.

Meanwhile, incumbent TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy is likely to be appointed general secretary of the AICC and also be made in-charge of one or two states.
