Speaking to reporters after inspecting Karnataka Vidyut Karkane Limited (Kavika) on Mysuru Road near Deepanjalinagar in the city, the minister said that in order to have a proper monitoring mechanism in place, the vigilance team will be in touch with executive engineers of the respective power sub-stations.
Due to the recent heavy rains, several electric poles have been damaged across the state. Bescom plans to spend Rs 20 crore to fix the damages. The power utility has given different helplines for different areas so that the complaints can be attended to quickly. Besides, additional workers and vehicles too are being provided for the purpose.
WhatsApp groups will be created and the local MLA and energy minister will be part of the group. Officials are duty-bound to update higher-ups on the action taken every three weeks, Shivakumar said.
There is also move to provide high efficiency transformers. This will save power by 25 per cent.
