THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretariat on Friday directed Thrissur district committee to take appropriate action against Irinjalakuda MLA K. U. Arunanan for attending RSS function. The secretariat was not satisfied by the explanation given by Mr Arunanan for taking part in the RSS meet. The secretariat said the district committee could go ahead and initiate suitable disciplinary action against the legislator. The party is examining various disciplinary measures including downgrading him to the branch level, suspending him from the primary membership of the party and letting him off with a strong warning.
However, the disciplinary action will finalised at the district committee. Though the MLA had clarified that a party area committee leader had invited him at the behest of temple committee, the explanation was found to be unsatisfactory. It may be recalled that veteran CPM leader N. Pdamlochanan was forced to quit as Kollam Mayor in 2010 after he inaugurated a reception committee office of RSS state meet. Subsequently he was also suspended from the primary membership of the party.
