BJP team meets Karnataka Governor, demands stern action against Muniratna
Bengaluru: The BJP city unit has submitted a memorandum to Governor Vajubhai Vala seeking action against Rajarajeshwarinagar Congress MLA Munirathna for allegedly harassing women corporators.
BJP city wing leaders, headed by former MLC Ashwathnarayana, met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan and demanded a police investigation into the harassment of woman councillor , Mamatha Vasudev by supporters of the MLA , which they claimed was stopping her from discharging her duties. Alleging that Mr Munirathna’s supporters were harassing women councillors so much that one of them had even attempted suicide recently, they requested the Governor to direct the BBMP Commissioner to create a congenial atmosphere in the city to enable the women corporators to discharge their duties without fear.
The BJP leaders also wanted Mr Vajubhai Vala to direct the state government to order an inquiry into the “irregularities and misuse of funds” in the RR Nagar constituency, claiming that the MLA was involved in all of it.
They urged him to direct the Lokayukta to reopen the Sanjana Singh case involving Mr Munirathna as well.
