Shobha Karandlaje: PM Narendra Modi skipped visit to Udupi Math for security reasons
Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi skipped his visit to the popular Udupi Krishna Math because of security reasons, said BJP general secretary Shobha Karandlaje on Wednesday.
She said at a press conference here that Mr Modi, during his visit to the state on Tuesday, actually wanted to visit the math but the Special Protection Group (SPG) responsible for his security, did not clear his visit. Visveshwateertha Swamiji who heads the math, had played a pivotal role in the Ayodhya movement which led to the demolition of the Babri Masjid, in the early 1990s.
The BJP MP also condemned the alleged attacks by Congress workers on the party's LCD vans which are used for poll campaigns across the state. Ms Karandalje said that sensing defeat in the elections, a desperate Congress is damaging the LCD vans which are stationed in Bengaluru, Kolar, Davangere and Dharwad.
