Sambit Patra: PM's just started but Congress already rattled

Mr Patra said the Congress was looking frustrated after the PM started his campaign.

Bengaluru: BJP national spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra on Wednesday remarked that the ruling Congress party in Karnataka had been rattled after Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted his elections rallies in the poll-bound state.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Patra said the Congress was looking frustrated after the PM started his campaign. Even Congress president Rahul Gandhi had failed to accept the challenge posed by the Prime Minister, who had asked him to speak about the achievements of the Congress government in the state for 15 minutes without the help of a written note.

Mr. Patra claimed neither Chief Minister Siddaramaiah nor JD(S) leader H.D.Kumaraswamy were confident of victory in their home constituencies which was why they had selected two Assembly seats each to contest. Mr. Yeddyurappa was confident of winning in Shikaripura and therefore had not opted for a second constituency, he said.

“Congress leaders are trying to confuse voters by talking about the ‘A’ team and ‘B’ team of BJP. But the BJP is a united, single team facing the elections on the basis of a positive agenda.

On the other hand, the Congress has stooped to the level of striking an alliance with anti-national forces like Popular Front of India (PFI) which is responsible for the murder of several BJP karyakartas. By giving protection to murderers, the Congress regime in Karnataka has nurtured the culture of ‘ease of doing murders”, Mr Patra quipped.
