BJP to contest alone in Telangana: K Laxman
Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president K. Laxman has made it clear that their party will contest in the next elections from Telangana alone.
Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday, Mr Laxman said that the TRS and the Congress are only ‘tail parties’ (toka partilu). He said that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s tours are to benefit the Congress and that’s why he is meeting the parties that have relations with the Congress.
He said that in the past, former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao had also made efforts to form a front but his party was defeated in his own state. Mr Laxman predicted that Mr KCR will face the same result in the 2019 elections.
He questioned whether leaders of all states were meeting Mr KCR without AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s permission? Mr Laxman said that UP former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, who met Mr KCR on Wednesday, will campaign in Karnataka Assembly elections along with the Congress. He said that the BJP will conduct a Bus Yatra in Telangana from June and in the months of June and July they will conduct meetings in 50 Assembly constituencies to strengthen the party.
