VS Achuthanandan stands by his charge on CM Oommen Chandy
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Monday said he stood by his statement that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had 31 cases of corruption. In his Facebook post, Achuthanandan said Lokayukta website indicated that as many as 47 cases of corruption had been filed against the chief minister and his colleagues. This information has also been received through the RTI, he added.
“You are a smart person. When this information came out, one of the top officials in your office threatened the Lok Ayukta. But a retired judge who got the job because of your blessings, came out and stated there were no cases against you. I had no intention to speak on these issues. But when you are misleading the people it is my duty to speak the truth before them. Cases in the Lok Ayukta are not related to robbery, you and I know very well that these are corruption cases,” he said.
Achuthandan also took a dig at the chief minster saying “Oommen Chandy, the medicine for your corruption is jail.” He said the CM was making a futile attempt to fool people of the state.
“After filing nomination papers you dared to show if there are any FIRs registered against you. When I speak about cases, you talk about FIRs. This is your usual trick. FIRs have to be registered by the police and vigilance. But the people of the state know very well that the police and vigilance have pledged their spine before you,” he alleged.
