BJP - Tamilisai Soundararajan
The national party has pitched in its high profile candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is also the state general secretary. The 54-year-old doctor is now a full time politician and an alumnus of prestigious Madras Medical College.
Strengths: Being the state president of BJP, the cadres of saffron party are working hard to ensure the victory of their leader. She is a local resident of Saligrammam and quit popular person in the constituency. A good orator and can connect with public.
Weaknesses: Both ruling AIADMK and DMK have fielded local heavyweights. Tamilisai, daughter of veteran Congress leader Kumari Ananthan, is

DMK - Dhanasekar
The opposition DMK has retained its local heavy weight and former corporation councillor Dhanasekar who lost to the DMDK MLA in 2011 by 14,000 votes.
Strengths: The businessman also heads the local DMK zonal unit and is popular among party men. As a good field worker, he enjoys good terms with DMK leader M. K. Stalin.
Weaknesses: Faces anti incumbency within the party. Despite being a local resident he mostly restricts himself to party activities and lacks ideological background.
AIADMK - Virugai Ravi
The ruling party has fielded its district secretary V. N. Ravi to wrest the constituency from DMDK. Ravi is also the chairman of Tamil Nadu Textile Corporation.
Strengths: Being a district secretary V.N. Ravi spearheads the campaign. Being a local resident with good financial support, he is optimistic about his victory.
Weaknesses: He has to face two formidable candidates from DMK and the BJP and is a green horn when it comes to assembly polls.
