Allegations won't affect UDF prospects: A K Antony

“Allegations and corruption are different,\" he told reporters at the Press Club here.

KANNUR: Allegations the Opposition and the media raised during the last days of the government would not affect the poll prospects of the UDF, Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony has said. “Allegations and corruption are different," he told reporters at the Press Club here.

“The government had withdrawn orders when there were allegations. No government would withdraw such orders if there were corruption." The former defence minister said that the Kerala elections had national importance and that’s why the BJP and the Union government are trying to appease the state like never before.

“The ruling party is campaigning in the state as if their headquarters has been shifted to Kerala. They are trying to please the state by offering many things. This shows that this election is going to be a nationally important event,” he said.
He alleged that the RSS was trying to create communal polarisation to found their base in Kerala and they have an agenda beyond opening an account in the assembly.

He also asked the CPM to stop playing hide and seek on the liquor policy. “In UDF’s manifesto, we have detailed about the steps we are going to take on prohibition. However in LDF’s manifesto, there is only a short paragraph mentioning about the policy and there is nothing about the opening of bars and outlets closed by the UDF government,” he said.
