Family of jobless youth who died by suicide demands job, Rs 1 crore ex-gratia
WARANGAL: The body of Boda Sunil Kumar reached his native village Ramsingh thanda in Gudur mandal around 5 pm. Scores of students and political leaders had reached the village by that time and argued with the police officials for bringing the body late.
They sat in front of the ambulance on the outskirts of the village and said they would not perform the final rites until they received an assurance from the government regarding job notifications.
District superintendent of police N. Koti Reddy reached the village and tried to pacify the villagers but they remained adamant until late in the evening.
Tribal welfare minister Satyavathi Rathod has promised to provide a double bedroom house to the family, a job to one of the family members and Rs 1 lakh towards the final rites.
The villagers demanded a written assurance from the collector that a job in the electricity department would be provided to Srinivas, the brother of Sunil, and Rs 1 crore ex gratia to the family.
Congress MLA Seethakka said the state had neglected providing jobs. It also showed negligence in providing better treatment to Sunil after he attempted suicide.
BJP Girijana Morcha leader Jatoth Hussain Naik said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has promised 1 lakh jobs after the formation of the state. “If he had kept his promise and gave jobs, Sunil would not have died today,” he said.
“Sunil clearly stated in the video that KCR was the reason for his death. Job vacancies should be filled to fulfil the Sunil’s wishes,” Naik said and asked, “The state decided to increase the retirement age from 58 to 61 but what about the lakhs of graduates.”
