‘Sitting MP’s failure will ensure my win’

The sitting MP has not done much. He could have been more vocal and available to the people of the constituency.

Q: How confident are you of winning this election?
A: I am quite confident. People want change. A lot more could have been done for the constituency over the last 10 years, but it hasn’t got anywhere. There are so many pending infrastructure projects and other development work that has been left incomplete. Someone needs to raise his voice in parliament for the people , but unfortunately, the present MP has not done it. So I want to be the people’s voice.

Q: Why should people vote for you?
A: After losing the 2014 elections, I have been meeting people in the constituency and raising their issues, which is necessary. The sitting MP has not done much. He could have been more vocal and available to the people of the constituency.

Q: Are you mainly banking on the minority votes?
A: I am a pluralist. I believe in working with everyone in society. I want to work with all citizens.

Q: How are relations between the Congress and JD(S) workers in the constituency?
A: They are smooth, thanks to HD Deve Gowdaji and H D Kumaraswamy, who called a meeting with the workers and urged them to work together. This has become an added source of strength for me as all the workers are campaigning for me.

Q: On what basis are you hoping to win votes this time?
A: There are three reasons why people should vote for me. One, I have my own developmental ideas for the constituency, two, the Union government couldn’t fulfill the promises it made and three, the sitting MP's failure to meet the people’s needs.
