Mandya: Hitting back at Janata Dal (Secular) MP L.R. Shivaramegowda for making casteist remarks against Ms Sumalatha Ambareesh, who is contesting as an independent in Mandya, Kannada actor, Yash said those who made such remarks had once stood with folded hands before her husband, the late former minister, M H Ambareesh.
Campaigning for Ms Sumalatha here on Tuesday, he said, “Once Sumalatha akka married Ambareesh anna, she automatically became a part of his family. I have seen these leaders, who are talking ill about Mr Ambareesh stand before him with the folded hands. But now after his death, they are questioning his contribution to Mandya. You go and talk to every villager and he will tell you what Ambi Anna has done for them. People are not fools. They will make the right decision at the right time".
Referring to CM H.D. Kumaraswamy's remarks comparing him and actor Darshan to a pair of bullocks feeding on the standing crop of farmers in the fields at night, Mr Yash retorted, “Annathammas (brothers), our Chief Minister is a big man, having been elected by 6.5 crore people. We don't remember stealthily eating anything. But the people know who eat what stealthily. If we are not important why talk about us? I don't know why they afraid of us. We don't fight elections during the last three days (meaning distribution of money three days before polling)...we have the people's support. I have come here to campaign out of love and affection for Ambi anna.”
