HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP leaders, especially from the state’s southern region, are worried about their political future if the party does not perform well in the ensuing graduate constituency elections to the Legislative Council. This fear is driving them to go the extra mile in convincing voters to back their nominees.
Towards this, leaders from Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Hyderabad districts are meeting young voters, in particular, in their respective Assembly constituencies.
BJP vice-president D.K. Aruna has worked relentlessly to muster the support of voters in erstwhile Mahbubnagar district, besides coordinating with Assembly-wise and second-level leaders. Aruna is concentrating on teachers, lecturers unions, student organisations, retired employees association and employees association for bolstering BJP prospects.
Electioneering and interaction with the Nalgonda electorate is spearheaded by Mothkupalli Narasimhulu and Sankineni Venkateswar Rao, who are touring their Assembly segments daily and pockets where they hold sufficient influence. They are appealing to the voters to ensure the win of party candidate Gujjula Premender Reddy.
Meanwhile, key leaders from Mahbubnagar like A.P. Jithender Reddy and Yennam Srinivas Reddy are engaged in a field-level campaign for party candidate N. Ramchander Rao.
Canvassing was actively taken up by A. Chandrasekhar, who recently joined the BJP, in Vikarabad district. National BC Commission member Acharya and Mahbubnagar district president Erra Shekhar and other leaders are also working for Ramchander Rao’s win.
In Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, former MLAs Chinatala Ramachandra Reddy, N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, and Kuna Srisailam Goud, former Mayor Banda Kartika, Ravikumar Yadav, Vikram Goud and others are extensively touring their respective constituencies. Newly-elected corporators are pitching in with their contacts across their division. Reportedly they are also preparing themselves for the next Assembly election.
