TRS, BJP leaders clash over plaque installation
Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed in the first ward of Secunderabad Cantonment at Bowenpally after police resorted to a mild lathicharge following clashes between BJP and TRS leaders over the installation of a plaque for constructing a road.
The police were tight-lipped over the incident. It was reported that some BJP corporators installed a plaque in Bowenpally for constructing a road. When they were set to unveil it, a number of TRS leaders and workers squatted at the place and objected to the inauguration alleging that the BJP leaders had violated protocol by not informing the ruling party leaders.
TRS leaders alleged that the funds were sanctioned by the state government for constructing roads but BJP leaders were trying to gain political mileage claiming that they had sanctioned funds for the works.
Following arguments between activists from the two parties that led to physical assaults, police resorted to a mild lathicharge to disperse the groups. Police deployed forces and stopped the programme following the incident. Police did not register any case in connection with the incident.
