Telangana High Court notice on reviving deleted voter
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court asked the EC on Wednesday to respond to the issue of not having any format for restoration of the names of voters which were deleted from the electoral list.
The court asked the EC whether it had any idea to avail of a new format for voters whose names were deleted, other than Form-6 which is meant for the enrolment of new voters.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice A. Rajasekhar Reddy was dealing with a petition of Ms Preethi Agarwal of Goshamahal, who could not vote because of the deletion of her name from the voter’s list.
Mr Subramanyam, counsel for the petitioner, submitted that the EC had deprived the petitioner of exercising her constitutional, legal and statutory right without granting her an opportunity of being heard. He urged the court to direct the EC to pay compensation to the petitioner for deletion of her name from the list.
