9 TTV MLAs removed from party posts

The MLAs challenged their disqualification at the Madras High Court and the verdict is yet to delivered.

Chennai: Determined to continue to take stern action against supporters of TTV Dhinakaran, the ruling AIADMK led by EPS-OPS, on Tuesday, fired yet another salvo against the rebel leader by removing nine disqualified MLAs from their party posts.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam had last week promised to take action against all those who acted against the interests of the AIADMK in the RK Nagar byelection in which Dhinakaran won by a huge margin of votes.

In a joint statement, Palaniswami and Panneerselvam said all the nine disqualified MLAs are being relieved from their respective party positions with immediate effect. Speaker P Dhanapal had disqualified the nine as MLAs in September last year after they submitted a letter to the then Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao withdrawing support to Palaniswami.
