Adilabad: The erstwhile Adilabad district is likely to see mixed results in the Assembly elections to be announced after the counting of poll on December 3. The BJP, Congress, BRS and BSP have their own expectations to win the seats in the area.
The BJP is expected to open its account while the Congress is confident of increase in its seats as it claims the BRS seats will come down compared to the last elections in the erstwhile Adilabad district.
In the last elections, the ruling BRS won nine seats and Congress managed to get only one out of total 10 segments in the erstwhile Adilabad district and this time, there may a contract picture compared to that of last time.
Atram Sakku, the who contested with a Congress party ticket from Asifabad elected and joined the BRS before the elections.
BSP state president R.S. Praveen Kumar gave a tough fight to BRS and BJP in the in Sirpur (T) constituency while in the remaining segments, there is a triangular fight among the BRS, Congress and BJP.
In Adilabad district, the BRS candidates faced a tough fight with the BJP and Congress for the third Assembly elections in Telangana, unlike Congress-BRS fight in the past.
The winning prospects of a few BRS candidates have come down due to anti–incumbency and public anger against some BRS MLAs who faced corruption charges and their autocratic attitude.
BJP has gained ground in the last month in the erstwhile Adilabad district. The party’s national leaders were more focused to win six to seven seats, for which the candidates were reportedly funded enough. For the same, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Eknath Shinde participated in campaign in the district.
