Mekapati says Jagan’s focus is on making youth skilful

Mekapati Goutham participated in India Skills 2021 Regional Competition — South at Visakhapatnam

VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is focusing on skilling youth of Andhra Pradesh, so that they can get meaningful employment, said IT and skill development minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy on Wednesday.

Participating in India Skills 2021 Regional Competition — South at Visakhapatnam, the minister said, “I am certain that India Skills Competition will inspire many young Indians to develop a passion for skills, pursue excellence and look for an opportunity to represent India on global stage. The competition also fulfills the objective of motivating youth to pursue Vocational Education and Training (VET),” he observed.

Appreciating participation of youngsters from Andhra Pradesh,
Telangana State, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Goutham Reddy said
training is being imparted in such a way that youth can find employment in popular MNCs like Flipkart, Dell and Amazon.

Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation chairman Konduru Ajay Reddy, managing director Bangaru Raju, Andhra University vice-chancellor Prof P.V.G.D. Prasad Reddy and collector A. Mallikarjuna were present.

The last phase of India Skills 2021 Regional Competition has brought together more than 500 contenders from five states.

The two-day competition will cover over 50 skills, such as visual merchandising, web technologies, bricklaying, bakery, fashion designing, mobile robotics and 3D digital game art.
