TRS man gets 3 2BHKs: Congress

Out of the 340-odd beneficiaries, Nagesh's family names are in 241 to 243 serial numbers in the list.

Hyderabad: The Congress alleged on Friday that a TRS member's family was allotted three 2BHK houses in Old Marredpally in violation of rules.

Mr Manne Krishank, Congress leader from the Secunderabad Cantonment, alleged that TRS leader P.L.Nagesh, who lost the 2015 MLC election, was also a close associate of TRS legislator G. Sayanna.

He alleged that the beneficiaries list contained the names of Nagesh, his brother Suresh and their father P. Lakshminarayana.

Mr Krishank said the that TRS government had introduced the scheme to benefit the homeless poor. “How can a ruling party leader, who is not economically weak, be accommodated in the beneficiaries list,” he asked. He cited Nagesh’s election affidavit to say that the TRS leaders stayed in a three-storey building and had his own car.

Out of the 340-odd beneficiaries, Nagesh’s family names are in 241 to 243 serial numbers in the list.

Responding to the allegaitions Mr Nagesh stated that his ancestors were from Marredpally village and they came forward to donate around 200 sq.yards of land.

“Inspired by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s initiative to ensure housing for all, we decided to donate our land and the price of a single square yard costs nearly Rs 80,000 . Authorities requested us to part our land so that they could take up the scheme in a bigger area. For nothing this has been made an issue. Now my family does not want to give any land,” he said, stating that he filed a defamation case against Mr Krishank in the Maredpally police station for levelling baseless allegations.

Mr Sayanna said, “In rural areas, the scheme is being taken up after farmers are parting their lands and they are figuring in the list. There is nothing wrong if individuals parting with lands are given houses in return.”
