YSRC complains to President Kovind against Telugu Desam
VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress MPs on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind seeking de-recognition of Telugu Desam for using offensive and abusive language against AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The parliamentarians submitted to Kovind video clippings and other evidence of how TD leaders had used abusive language against a constitutional authority.
The delegation of YSRC MPs, led by their parliamentary party leader V. Vijayasai Reddy, suggested that President Kovind could direct union law minister to bring in legislation akin to Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, which specifically penalises any deliberate and malicious acts intended to insult constitutional functionaries.
Speaking to media after meeting the President, MP Vijayasai Reddy said they explained to him misconduct of TD functionaries, including TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh and party spokesperson Kommalapati Pattabhiram, who used filthy, foul and abusive language against the CM, due to which TD must be derecognised.
The parliamentary party leader said the main reason for frustration of Naidu is that TD has lost all elections since 2019 Assembly elections, including local body, MPTC, ZPTC polls, apart from municipal and corporation elections.
