2 new AIADMK MLAs sworn in

The MLAs also took a oath to abide by the Indian Constitution, the Assembly secretary K Sreenivasan said in a press release here.

CHENNAI: The ruling AIADMK’s strength in the Tamil Nadu Assembly officially rose to 124 in the 234-member House on Friday with two of the party’s recently elected MLAs in the October 21 bypolls from Vikravandi and Nanguneri constituencies, being sworn-in Friday.

The AIADMK MLAs- R. Muthamizhselvan, elected from Vikravandi segment and V. Narayanan, elected from Nanguneri constituency down south, were sworn in by the Assembly Speaker, Thiru. P. Dhanapal, at his chamber in the Secretariat.

The MLAs also took a oath to abide by the Indian Constitution, the Assembly secretary K Sreenivasan said in a press release here.

Chief Minister, Mr. Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. O. Panneerselvam, their Cabinet colleagues were present when the members took oath. Earlier, they placed wreaths at the ‘Samadhis’ of the AIADMK founder-leader, MGR and of the former Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa.

The composition of the State Assembly now stands as follows: Total no of seats (234 elected MLAs plus one nominated member): AIADMK- 124, DMK -100, Congress-7, IUML-1, Independent (T T V Dhinakaran - 1) and Speaker.
