Time for parivarthan? BJP yatra today

It was Mr Amit Shah's idea to organize a mega election rally to bring awareness about the misdeeds of the ruling Congress.

Bengaluru: The state BJP's much hyped Nava Karnataka Parivarthana Yatra will be flagged off by BJP National President Amit Shah on Tuesday at the International Exhibition Ground at Peenya. The party has made elaborate arrangements to make the 75-day Yatra a success. The BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate and party state president B.S.Yeddyurappa will lead the Yatra and will be accompanied by BJP state leaders, Union Ministers and CMs of BJP ruled states in the country.

It was Mr Amit Shah’s idea to to organize a mega election rally to bring awareness among the public about the misdeeds of the ruling Congress. He had also advised party state leaders to organize a bike rally. The state BJP has therefore instructed booth committee members to come to the rally on bikes. From each booth, six members will come on 3 bikes.

For the Bengaluru rally, from 27,000 booths, over 1.50 lakh booth committee workers will arrive on 75,000 bikes. Mr Yeddyurappa said that the first leg of the rally will be attended by over 3 lakh people from 17 districts of which 1.50 lakh will be booth committee workers and the remaining from the general public and party workers from 17 South Karnataka districts.

Party sources said that during the Yatra, the BJP will focus more on the failures of the Congress government in all sectors. Besides, the party will announce its vision for the next five years. According to sources, the BJP will highlight the Modi model of development in the country in the last three years.

The Yatra will cover 7,500 km in 75 days, touching all 224 Assembly constituencies. The North Zone Yatra will be inaugurated at Hubballi on November 21. The BJP has requested the Prime Minister to inaugurate the Hubballi Yatra but the PM's office is yet to give confirmation to the state BJP, sources said.

The BJP state president will be present in the Yatra for all 75 days. The party has formed a team of leaders who will attend rallies in the districts. For the Hubballi meeting, booth committee members will attend from 110 Assembly constituencies on 80,000 bikes, a party release said. The party has assigned its general secretaries the responsibility of organising the Yatra. For the Bengaluru meeting, the responsibility has been given to former Deputy CM R. Ashok.
