Congress plans a no-trust move to get time to speak

TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who announced the plan on Wednesday evening, said the TRS was bulldozing the Opposition.

Hyderabad: The Congress Legislature Party is considering a plan to move a no-confidence motion mainly with a view to getting an opportunity to speak in the Assembly. TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who announced the plan on Wednesday evening, said the TRS was bulldozing the Opposition in the Assembly, denying them their right to speak and using the time to malign Opposition parties.

He said a decision on the no-confidence motion will be taken after consulting CLP members. Congress MLAs led by Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy met Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary and complained of his “bias”. “We do not want to embarrass you but we must bring the facts before you. We are not being allowed to speak on many occasions,” Mr Jana Reddy told the Speaker.

As Leader of Opposition he was entitled to raise any issue and intervene in any matter but he was not allowed to do so, he said. The Speaker assured them he would check the proceedings and take necessary corrective steps. Congress Legislature Party secretary Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said such a complaint was unusual and it was not the party’s intent to show disrespect to the Chair, “but we were constrained to make a complaint against Speaker.”
