Cong Leaders Decry One Nation One Election Proposal

The one nation one election has been in the works for quite some time

Hyderabad: Congress leaders from the state, though circumspect about the intentions of the central government on the one nation one election proposal, say that they are ready for general elections.

TPCC vice-president Mahesh Kumar Goud said "This is nothing but an attempt to divert attention from the I.N.D.I.A. alliance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is worried about the rising popularity of the alliance. People have decided to back the Congress party at every level as Modi is only catering to the interests of his friends from the corporate sector."

MLC T. Jeevan Reddy said "Tenures of state governments are different from one another. The question is what will happen if there is a problem at the parliament level itself. Will there be president rule?"

AICC secretary Challa Vamsi Chand Reddy categorised the situation as a clear indication of the Modi and BJP's worry at the popularity of Rahul Gandhi and the alliance. "Post-Bharat jodo Yatra, Rahul has gained much support. People are aware of Modi’s intention to safeguard Adani. A diverse country like India cannot have such elections."

The one nation one election has been in the works for quite some time. The BJP want to go to polls together and is only talking about central and state polls without any thought for local body polls, said TPCC general secretary Addanki Dayakar.
