CM Edappadi K Palaniswami meets farmers in Salem district
Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday assured that his government will always support farmers in the state. He met farmers in Salem district. Later, he addressed the media and said that what the infrastructure facilities the urban people enjoyed, the same facilities were available in all the interior villages across the state and this was Amma's government aim.
Palaniswami also stated, “Even I was born in a village and was a farmer. I am still involved in the farming. So, I am well aware of the issues faced by farmers and even I realized difficulties of farmers.”
Stating that no departments had such difficulties like farmers, Palaniswami said, “Farmers are striving hard by shedding blood and sweat and Amma's government will also recognize these farmers and support them.”
Amma's government is protecting both education and agriculture and it will continue to do so,” he noted. Subsequently, the CM had gone to Kalvarayan hills and he inaugurated new electricity connection programme and fire service. “We are taking measures to woo the tourists and boating and dam will be constructed and Kalvarayan hills will once be a sight for eye sore. Even a mini bus will be operated in this hill and I am aware of the issues faced by you (people),” he said, adding that he had faced many challenges and protests after Amma's demise. However, all issues were sorted out by meeting them.
He said DMK had not intervened in Cauvery and Mullaiperiyar issues. “There was not a single new industry during the DMK regime and they focused only on power hungry, but AIADMK was different and it was a golden rule,” he noted.
On the way to Karumanthurai village, he met tribal people in Aruna, a tribal area. Palaniswami entered a hamlet of Theerthan, a tribal. The CM also enquired about crops.
