BENGALURU: State president of Janata Dal (Secular) C.M. Ibrahim on Wednesday asked the leaders of India National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), having 26 political parties, to nominate the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha first to project him as an alternative leader to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tell the people about their agenda.

JD(S) is not an ally of INDIA which has Congress party, Trinamool Congress Party, Janata Dal United, Aam Aadmi Party among others. At a press conference here, Ibrahim said “Whether Modi is telling the truth or lies but he is good at oration” and stated that “It is a different question whether Modi is doing a good job as a Prime Minister?” And, he asked "Who is the alternative to Modi at the moment?"

He said that the people of the country are fed-up over the rise in unemployment among other issues and are in need of an alternative leader and wanted the leaders of INDIA to groom a leader to take on Narendra Modi in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

“Simply criticising Modi does not serve the purpose," felt the JD (S) chief and wanted to know “Who would be the PM candidate of INDIA whether it is West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee or Bihar CM Nitish Kumar or Telangana CM Chandrashekar Rao?”

He also wanted INDIA allies to tell people of the country “What is their economic policy?” ,“What is your take on the agricultural sector?” and “On unemployment?” and said the people of the country and in particular youth are aware of the happenings in the country.

Over the Congress Party led State Government claiming success over its 5-guarantees implementation, Ibrahim termed the 5-guarantees of the Congress party such as 200 units of free power, 10 kg rice to BPL/Antyodaya card holders among others have been a failure and stated that power tariff has been hiked and substandard quality of rice is distributed to the people.

Ibrahim asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to constitute a committee at the taluk-level involving all parties to monitor the implementation of the schemes of the government and also to convene an all party meeting on the implementation of the 5-guarantees.

He said that his party would go alone in Lok Sabha polls and also in ensuing Taluk and Zilla Panchayat polls in the State and stated that preparations for the same are underway.
