Former TD MLA Moola Reddy passes away

KAKINADA: Senior Telugu Desam leader and former MLA of Anaparthi, Nallamilli Moola Reddy (80), passed away at his native village Ramavaram on Monday afternoon. He is survived by wife Satyavathi, son Nallamilli Ramakrishna, the former MLA of Anaparthi, and two daughters.

Moola Reddy remained in politics for 52 years. He was one of the key leaders when late NT Rama Rao established Telugu Desam Party in 1982. Moola Reddy contested from Anaparthi assembly segment seven times on TD ticket and won four times.

Reddy began his political career in 1970. He was elected as Sarpanch of Ramavaram village for two terms from 1970 till 1983 and was elected as head of the Ramachandrapuram Cooperative Super Bazar in 1978. He was Rayavaram Samithi president in 1981.

In the 2014 assembly elections, Moola Reddy did not enter the fray due to health problems. The TD gave the assembly ticket to his son Nallamilli Ramakrishna.

Anaparthi MLA Sathi Suryanarayana (YSRC) visited Ramavaram and paid tributes to Mooalareddy. He consoled the family members of the deceased. Anaparti Sarpanch Vara Kumari, YSRC leader Sabbella Krishna and others paid tributes to Mulareddy. A month ago, TD chief Chandrababu Naidu visited Ramavaram and enquired about the health of Moolareddy.
