Warangal: MLA-mayor divide come to fore at plantation drive
Warangal: The distance between Warangal East MLA Konda Surekha and the TRS appears to be increasing by the day. It is now an open fact that all is not well between Mr Surekha and Warangal mayor Nannapuneni Narender, who are both strong contenders for the MLA ticket from the same party. They have even openly challenged each other recently.
In the latest development, Ms Surekha, who was invited to a sapling plantation programme at Thimmapuram on the outskirts of Warangal city, was not invited to the stage after all the guests planted saplings.
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Wardhannapet MLA Aroori Ramesh, ZP chairperson Gaddala Padma, collector Amrapali Kata, Gundu Sudharani, KUDA chairman Marri Yadava Reddy, corporator Chinthala Yadagiri and police commissioner V. Ravinder were present during the programme.
On her arrival, Ms Surekha was not received by any party leader. Nor was she asked to join the sapling plantation. She planted the sapling designated to her along with her followers and waited for her to be called onto the stage. She was furious when the speeches began with she still waiting outside and decided to leave.
However, when asked about the incident, Ms Surekha said there was no issue of protocol there as that area did not come under her constituency. She said she had to leave because she had some urgent business and she left as soon as possible.
