TTV Dhinakaran to meet VK Sasikala today
Chennai: Amid hectic back channel talks between OPS and EPS factions, AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran will meet party interim chief V. K. Sasikala at the Parapana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru to discuss the latest developments in the party.
Dhinakaran, sources said, will meet Sasikala at the prison on Wednesday to discuss the "political situation in Tamil Nadu and take instructions from her on the next step." The AIADMK leader has been maintaining that he would take instructions only from Sasikala since she was the one who appointed him as deputy general secretary of the party.
Wednesday's meeting is expected to set the ball rolling for Dhinakaran's re-entry into "active politics" after a gap of two months and he reiterated his interest to return to party work for the third time in as many day on Tuesday. With the EPS faction resolving not to "allow family members into the AIADMK", Dhinakaran is expected to brief Sasikala about the meetings that are taking placing in Chennai.
"Dhinakaran has made it clear every now and then that he will keep away from active politics only for two months and since the deadline ends on Friday, he will resume work on Saturday. He will discuss issues with the general secretary and take instructions from her," a senior leader close to Dhinakaran said.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, Dhinakaran said he was "no competition" to any one in the party and that he will continue to "do his duty for the party."
"I am going to tour the state to meet party cadres and people for party's growth and for the party's win in 2019 Lok Sabha poll. As a party worker and Deputy General Secretary I have a duty to work for the party and strengthen it," he said.
Dhinakaran's Bengaluru visit also comes as the noose tightens around him with an Economic Offences Court framing charges against him in connection with a Foreign Exchange Regulations Act (FERA) registered against him by Enforcement Directorate two decades ago.
