Godfather' lands E S Bijimol in soup
Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state executive has issued a show cause notice to E.S. Bijimol, party's Peermedu MLA for making anti-party remarks in an intervie given to a magazine recently. In respone to a question as to why she was not picked for the LDF ministry despite being one of the senior most legislators in the CPI, Bijimol said she had no "godfather".
The two day state executive meeting held at M N Samarakam here had discussed the matter and decided to issue a show cause notice to her. When contactd, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran refused to comment on the issue. “I cannot share the details of our executive meeting with media,” he said. Bijimol who won by a slender margin from Peermedu this time, had been given the party ticket to contest by relaxing the norm restricting people who had contested twice.
The executive felt that the remarks made by Bijimol were violation of party discipline since the nominees for LDF ministry had been decided by the state leadership in consultation with the national leadership. When asked about the show cause notice, Bijimol said: “You ask party secretary about it. The news might have come from there.”
Earlier, the CPI MLA had courted controversy by alleging that a senior leader of the party was planning to assassinate her. Bijimol’s statement had created an upheaval in the party with the CPI district leadership seeking her explanation. She managed to survive disciplinary action at that time because of the apology tender by her to the district committee.
