Who are Captain Vijayakanth's favourite villains? Check Twitter
Chennai: Remember the self-proclaimed Anti-Corruption Force in Ramanaa, a blockbuster film with ‘Captain’ Vijayakanth as its lead?
In his political avatar too, the popular actor wants an agency like the ACF to tackle corruption if he becomes the Chief Minister, but this job will be given to the government unlike the popular 2002 film in which the job went to a citizen militia.
In his debut on Twitter, the DMDK chief Vijayakanth took questions from users of the micro-blogging site using his official handle @Ivijayakanth, which seems to have been created in haste.
“I will set up Lokayukta and anti-corruption force,” was Vijayakanth’s response to a question on how he would tackle corruption if his DMDK-PWA combine is voted to power. ACF is a clear reference to Ramanaa, a blockbuster movie that saw the return of ‘Captain’ to the cinema world after several of his movies bombed at the box office.
Often criticised for his poor connect with the people, the actor-politician answered questions to Twitter users for an hour, promising them another session Sunday next.
When a Twitter user asked Captain — he had actually donned the role of a villain in his early movies — who was his favourite villain, the DMDK chief’s reply was in true filmy style.
“My favourite hero is Vaiko (MDMK). My villains are Karunanidhi (DMK chief) and Jayalalithaa (Chief Minister),” he responded. Vijayakanth, who has played the good cop saving the country from the evil designs of terrorists in his movies, said his nature was to speak against injustice not just in reel life but also in real life.
“Youth holds the future of our Nation. Happy to have interacted with you through social media. Shall meet next Sunday. Will inform the time,” Vijayakanth tweeted at the end of his interaction and signed off. ‘Captain’ is the CM candidate of the DMDK-PWA combine.
