Tirupati LS bypoll: YSRC leaders campaign for party candidate Dr M. Gurumoorthy
Nellore: Ministers and senior leaders of the YSRC called upon the electorate to back party nominee Dr M. Gurumoorthy in the Tirupati Lok Sabha seat byelection to
endorse their confidence once again in Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Addressing a large gathering during the launch of the election campaign, after worshipping at the Sri Bhagawan Venkaiah Swamy temple at Golgadmudi in Sarepalli Assembly constituency, Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayana Swamy said that the Chief Minister had been paying special attention to develop every constituency as his own Assembly segment. He said Jagan Mohan Reddy had brought about innovation in the education system through unique reforms.
Taking a dig at the TD state president K. Atchannaidu for his utterances against the YSRC, Narayana Swamy alleged that the Telugu Desam had contributed nothing to the state after bifurcation and ahd failed to bail the state out of difficulties. He expressed the confidence that the party would win by a five lakh vote margin.
In his address, panchayat raj minister P. Ramachandra Reddy claimed that the YSRC had fulfilled 90 per cent of its poll promises within 18 months.
He said the focus of the country would be on the Tirupati byelection if the voters give Dr Gurumoorthy a five lakh vote majority.
Education minister Adimulapu Suresh said that the CM is a champion of women empowerment as he respected them and allotted the majority of seats to women in the local bodies, the Assembly, and elevated a woman as Deputy Chief Minister. He said the government as treating the polls as a referendum on the performance of YSR Congress government.
Speaking on the occasion, TTD Chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy said the Chief Minister had been doling out benefits through welfare programmes irrespective of caste and religion. Development is being seen in all the sector and Jagan Mohan Reddy is being considered a successful Chief Minister, he said.
While lauding the CM for nominating a “commoner” like Dr Gurumoorthy, Sarvepalli legislator Kakani Govardhan Reddy reminded that other parties fielded well-known persons. He also said the YSRC government had developed the Sarvepalli constituency with Rs 320 crore for roads and drains within 18 months of coming to power. He appealed to the voters to rally behind the YSRC nominee and ensure an unprecedented majority. He also asked the party cadre to work hard for the success of the LS nominee.
Dr Gurumoorthy said the Chief Minister had been striving hard in the state to benefit all sections of the people. Development is the only agenda of the CM while expressing his gratitude for selecting him as a candidate for the prestigious seat.
MLA K. Parthasarathi also spoke. Dr Gurumoorthy conducted roadshows in Golagamudi, Varigonda, and TP Gudur. He also offered prayers at Kasumuru Dargah.
