\'There is no urgency,\' says SC, declines urgent hearing on Hardik Patel\'s plea
SC on Tuesday refused urgent hearing of Hardik Patel\'s request to hold his conviction so he can contest 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused urgent hearing of Hardik Patel's request to hold his conviction in 2015 Vispur rioting case so he can contest 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
The top court said there is no urgency in listing Hardik Patel's plea as High Court order was passed in August last year.
"The order was passed in August 2018. What is the urgency now?" the bench said.
Patel, 25, had started preparations to contest from Jamnagar on a Congress ticket after joining the party on March 12 and the last date for filing of nominations is April 4.
