Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his second campaign meeting in four days in the state targeted Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, saying the steering wheel of Mr Rao’s car was with Mr Owaisi.
Mr Modi continued where he left off at Mahbubnagar and said Mr Rao’s eyes were on the Delhi gaddi but not on ‘vikas’. “A vote for the TRS will only benefit KCR and the Majlis,” he said.
The meeting was held in support of the party’s candidates from Secunderabad (G. Kishan Reddy), Malkajgiri (N. Ramchandra Rao), Chevella (B. Janardhan Reddy) and Hyderabad (Dr Bhagawanth Rao).
Mr Modi called Mr Owaisi a “speed breaker.” “The poor condition of the Musi speaks of the development done by the TRS and the MIM. Do you find motorable roads or a drainage system in the Old City? The speedbreaker has blocked the entry of Hyderabad Metro Rail to the Old City,” he said.
“They (MIM) don’t want to work for vikas because day and night they only remember to attack Modi, but I won’t allow them to sleep in peace,” Mr Modi said.
Bringing up the issue of the triple talaq Bill, “The Majlis party protested when we (NDA) introduced the triple talaq Bill. Mere Mussalman betiyon aur behenon, my government will protect you the three evil words (referring to talaq). On April 11, if the mahamilavat (the Opposition mahagathbandhan) gets a chance in the elections, they will take it (the Bill) away,” he said. The Prime Minister appealed to the people to teach Mr Rao a lesson by not voting for the TRS candidates.
Mr Modi criticised the previous UPA government for not spending to strengthen the defence forces.
“When our jawans required bulletproof jackets, they said no funds, when the IAF asked for aircraft the government pretended to be cash-strapped. The UPA didn’t have money because it was being pocketed, but the Modi government has tightened the leakages.” he said. “For 40 years, Pakistan kept attacking us. New India will not tolerate this. We will barge into the houses and kill them (terrorists).
