Asaduddin Owaisi asks Election Commission if PM violated model code

Owaisi in a Twitter post said, Modi has never hidden his communalism or his lack of respect for truth or the rule of law.

Hyderabad: MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the Election Commission regarding the model code of conduct following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at a rally in Maharashtra.

Mr Modi said, “They linked peace-loving Hindus to terrorism... they are scared to contest elections from a constituency where the majority dominates... they are forced to go where majority (Hindus) are in minority,” Mr Modi said, referring to Congress president Rahul Gandhi contesting from Wayanad, Kerala.

Mr Owaisi in a Twitter post said, “Modi has never hidden his communalism or his lack of respect for truth or the rule of law. This brazenness is his hallmark. The only things that changed is that people are catching up to his dog-whistle politics.”

Questioning the EC, he said, “If the ECI says that this is not a violation of the MCC, then I have some things to say in my public meetings too.”
