22 lakh jobs in first year, promises Rahul Gandhi
Hyderabad: Congress president Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, at a public meeting at Huzurnagar, the Assembly constituency of TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy who is contesting from Nalgonda LS seat.
Mr Gandhi said in the first year of a Congress government 22 lakh vacancies in the government will be filled. He said that the people of Nalgonda district have been suffering from the fluoride problem for years and Mr Rao has done nothing about it after assuring people of clean drinking water five years ago.
On more serious charge of the divisive nature of BJP rule, Mr Gandhi said Mr Modi is creating trouble for Dalits, minorities and others, and added that the Congress will stand by them. Since Mr Modi is provoking enmity among the people of the country, his defeat in the Lok Sabha elections will be certain.
Mr Gandhi demanded to know why Chief Minister was silent on the Rafale issue. He said that the people of Telangana should remember that it was the Congress that gave them their separate state, and appealed to them to vote for the Congress.
Mr Gandhi said that farmers, and particularly paddy farmers, are facing problems because they don't get a good price for their produce, and thousands of farmers in the country are committing suicide. He said his party would provide remunerative prices for paddy and have storage godowns constructed close to agriculture fields.
Demonetisation, he said, had destroyed small businessmen and forced small businessmen and young entrepreneurs to make the rounds of banks. He said once the Congress comes to power it will permit small businessmen to get loans from banks easily and they will not require a licence for three years. This assurance will be incorporated in the Congress manifesto, Mr Gandhi said.
‘KCR family corrupt’
At a public meeting in Wanaparthy on Monday, Congress party president Rahul Gandhi accused the TRS government of working for the development of just one family. In Telangana, no one except the Kalvakuntla family is benefiting and in the government, no work is done without bribery, he alleged.
Weavers are badly affected by the new GST regime of Modi, he said, and promised if voted to power, his government would exclude handloom cloth from GST.
He promised to bring the Nyaya scheme into effect as soon as his party came to power, whereby Rs 72,000 will be credited in poor man's account every year.
