Sterlite: Don't give credence to false info
Chennai: Piqued over the series of protests from several quarters including top actors-turned-politicians Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, against it, the Sterlite Copper plant of Vedanta Limited at Thoothukudi has urged them not to believe incorrect information about plant.
“Dear @rajinikanth, we feel that incorrect and untrue information may have reached you about our operations in Thoothukudi. It is our sincere hope that these #facts will give you the true picture and help develop a balanced opinion. #TruthAloneTriumphs #FactsMatter,” Sterlite Copper said in a tweet.
In a tweet addressed to Kamal, Sterlite said, “Dear Kamal sir, as an organisation we are committed to empowering our surrounding communities. In light of the recent misconceptions about us, we humbly submit the true facts and encourage you to visit our plant in Thoothukkudi .. #TruthAloneTriumphs @ikamalhaasan.”
Similar messages were also posted to actors Vijay Sethupathi, Vijay, G. V. Prakash, Aari and Hiphop Tamizha.
The post on The Truth!! About Sterlite Copper said that “there is no population based or hospital based data that links Sterlite to Cancer. TuTicorin leads in human development index, not in cancer.”
Kamal participated in protest against Sterlite on Sunday, while Rajini posted a strong message on Twitter on Saturday against the plant.
