Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth raking up Sterlite for publicity: Kadambur K Raju

On Cauvery, he said, “It's the first time that a State government has filed contempt against the Centre in the Supreme Court.

Kovilpatti: State information minister Kadambur K. Raju on Sunday accused actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth of fishing in the Sterlite waters “only to gain publicity and political mileage”, and asserted that the government would take the right decision based on scientific evidence and official inspections.

“Kamal Haasan has gone to those villagers protesting against Sterlite today only to gain political mileage. The Union Environment Ministry and the state pollution control board have obtained all the necessary detailed reports from Sterlite. Only the government can take the right decision after carefully examining all aspects” said minister Raju, speaking to reporters after participating in the Kadirvel Murugan temple festival near here.

“The CM has obtained all the necessary data and reports from the concerned departments on this Sterlite issue. He will soon announce a good decision based on the reports”, he said.

On Cauvery, he said, “It’s the first time that a State government has filed contempt against the Centre in the Supreme Court. This amply demonstrates our resolve to go to any extent to protect people’s welfare.
