Deve Gowda, HD Kumaraswamy to take on Siddaramaiah

Mr Kumaraswamy also made it clear that the JD (S) will not admit tainted mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy into the party.

Bengaluru: A day after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took potshots at the JD(S)’ CM candidate, H.D. Kumaraswamy for commenting on his victory prospects in Chamundeshwari, both JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and Mr Kumaraswamy dropped hints that they would craft a special strategy for Chamundeshwari from where Mr Siddaramaiah has decided to contest.

"Next week, I will campaign in Chamundeshwari. It is not easy to win, it is the voter who has to decide. Even in Varuna (the CM’s earlier constituency), the Congress is not on an easy wicket. After four and a half years, the CM has remembered Chamundeshwari. People will give him a befitting reply,” Mr Gowda said in Hassan on Sunday.

The former PM remarked that BJP national president, Amit Shah would not be able to implement his strategy in Karnataka. "This is a different terrain, people will not fall for Mr Shah's strategy."

During a different campaign at Davanagere, Mr Kumaraswamy was more categorical on the CM’s poll prospects saying, "There is no need to forge an alliance with anyone. The JD (S) will certainly defeat the Congress in Chamundeshwari. People of the constituency will teach him (the CM) a lesson."

Mr Kumaraswamy also made it clear that the JD (S) will not admit tainted mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy into the party. "It is the BJP's internal matter (not drafting Mr Reddy for election work). "We do not need anti-social elements," he quipped.
