Bengaluru: It appears that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Dr Yatindra, who is trying to fill the shoes of his late son, Rakesh, could take the plunge into active politics and contest the 2018 assembly polls.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Siddaramaiah strongly hinted at the possibility saying the people were keen on Dr Yatindra contesting the coming assembly polls and the party high command would decide on his son's constituency.
“He is actively involved in the Nanjangud and Gundlupet byelections and is in touch with party workers. But I will not force my son to enter politics," he added.
Admitting he was missing his son, Rakesh, who passed away last year, he said, "I would not have bothered with the campaigning if Rakesh was alive. I am missing him a lot."
Asked if he would contest from Chamundeshwari or Varuna in the assembly poll, he said it was upto the party high command to decide, but no decision had been taken as yet. Also, as there was still a year to go for the polls he had time to decide which constituency he should contest from, he pointed out.
The Chief Minister denied he had taken information from the socio- economic survey being done by the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission when preparing the recent state budget. “This is not true. The survey report will be made public shortly,” he assured.
