Chief Minister ignoring weavers' problems in state, says Roja

Ms Roja said not even a single promise had been implemented along with the promise of restoring Janata Cloth Scheme.

Vijayawada: YSRC MLA Roja had once again criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for not waiving the loans of handloom weavers.

She said the state government was ignoring the weavers though they are in difficult times and said if Rs 130 crore is allocated to the handloom weavers, loans will be waived off.

She also criticised the TD government for not providing Rs 1 lakh loans to handloom weavers and not establishing handloom bazaar for them as promised earlier.

While inaugurating integrated powerloom sector development scheme on Saturday in her constituency Nagari, She said she couldn’t see anywhere the implementation of 20 per cent discount on raw materials to handloom weavers, along with the low interest loans.

She criticised the government for not constructing even a single old age home, especially for old aged handloom weavers in Uravakonda, Mangalagiri, Dharma-varam and Chirala. She even mentioned about the establishment of handloom parks, employment opportunity along with training to handloom weavers in every district. She also questioned on not constructing even a single house or shed to handloom workers as promised, even after 3 years of TD reign.

Ms Roja said not even a single promise had been implemented along with the promise of restoring Janata Cloth Scheme. Ms Roja mentioned about TD promising Rs 1,000 crore special fund establishment along with special budget of Rs 1,000 crore for handloom weavers and criticised that four Budget sessions had completed but not even a Rs 4 special fund was established.
