KT Rama Rao fines party leaders Rs 1 lakh each for flexis
Khammam: TRS corporators of Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) were sho-cked when municipal administration minister K. T. Rama Rao asked the 16th ward corporator Kamartapu Murali to pay Rs 1 lakh fine to the corporation for erecting flexis everywhere in the town without taking permission from the KMC.
KTR’s order to Murali, who is also TRS town president, came when the corporator tried to present him a memento at a meeting held on Sunday in connection with the Pattana Praga-thi programme. Mr Rao directed Mayor Papalal, who was there on the dais, to ensure that the corporator paid the fine.
KTR reacted in a similar vein against Yellan-du municipal chairperson Dammalapati Venk-ateswara Rao.
Pointing to the flexis at the public meeting, the minister asked the chairperson too to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh to the Yellandu municipality.
“We should conquer the hearts of people by implementing development works for the society and not just erecting flexis,” Mr Rama Rao remarked.
The municipal administration and urban development minister said once people in responsible positions are fined for erecting flexis, general public will stop putting up flexis on their own. The two incidents became a topic of discussion among TRS leaders and officials.
