Uttam Kumar Reddy takes KT Rama Rao to task

Mr Reddy reiterated that the Congress would get a minimum 70 Assembly seats.

Hyderabad: Accepting the challenge of IT minister K.T. Rama Rao, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday announced that he and his wife Padmavathi would quit active politics in case the Congress does not win the next elections in the state.

He asked Mr Rama Rao and his family including Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to quit politics in the event of the TRS’ defeat in the next elections.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said, “As PCC chief, I am accepting his (Mr KTR’s) challenge, I am also challenging KTR to accept my challenge that his family members should quit politics in case the TRS is defeated in the polls.”

He wanted to know what Mr Chandrasekhar Rao would do if the TRS does not get 100 Assembly seats as he had predicted.

Reacting to Mr Rama Rao’s criticism, at a public meeting in Gadwal on Wednesday, that the Gandhi-Nehru family had done nothing for Telangana state, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, “you (KTR) are a bachha in politics. What is your status to criticise national leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi?”

Mr Reddy reiterated that the Congress would get a minimum 70 Assembly seats.
